Ideas On Making Your Own Custom Made Cards

A greeting card is an illustrated folded cart that is meant to express love, friendship, and other sentiments to another person. It is typically mailed or handed out to family members and friends on anniversaries, major holidays, and birthdays but can also be used to convey feelings of thanks and sympathy. The cards that are bought in stores are convenient and inexpensive but are also generic and mass produced. Custom made cards are better ideas for those interested in taking more personal approaches.

For anyone who is looking for convenience and personalization, there are plenty of websites that may prove helpful. The sites all allow their users to choose a card from a variety of topics and personalize its message and image. The websites will even print and mail the items to the intended recipients for a small fee.

These sites are useful but if you have the spare time and gumption, making custom greeting cards yourself can be extremely rewarding. Your friends and family members will appreciate the personalized sentiment and you'll feel rewarded and creative as well.

Birthdays are one of the most popular reasons for making and sending out greeting cards. They are also the easiest occasion to make homemade cards for since, unlike with major holidays, you won't have to create a lot of cards all at once. And all you really need are a few art supplies such as
 paper, paint, and glue.

First, take two large sheets of card stock paper and cut one of them in half. Fold up the other and set it aside and cut out enough colored wrapping paper to cover one side of the cut card stock. Then, use rubber cement or glue to adhere the paper to back and front of the cardstock.

When it dries, choose a ribbon of corresponding color and situate it over the wrapping paper the same way it would look on a wrapped gift. Next, glue the piece to the front of the folded card stock, personalize the inside and mail it off to your friend or relative.

If you have a white inked pen and colored card stock sheet handy, you can create unique and simple cards as well. Take the sheet of colored card stock, fold it equally in half, and draw in your message and design on the front with the pen. Choose to go with anything from eye popping patterns to simple greetings. Anything will end up looking good because the colors of the card and white ink will compliment each other nicely.

If your specialty isn't drawing, you should consider obtaining and using adhesive book covers. First, sketch out your design and cut it out with an exacto knife. Stick it to the card's top and use it as a stencil, filling it in with the white ink. Peel it off once the special ink has dried up and then admire your creation. If it meets your standards, insert it into a large envelope and then mail it off to your desired family member or close friend.
